COOKS LOT 'ICONIQUE BARRIQUE ROLLED' CHARDONNAY 2019

95 POINTS

"Chardonnay releases with 6 years of bottle age are rare. Say hello to this detailed, glorious piece from Duncan Cook. A considered winemaker, this Iconique Barrique Chardonnay spends 24 months on lees in new and seasoned French oak with the barrels rolled rather than stirred to build texture and complexity.

"Let it be known, I'm here for the detail. It's a wine to sit back with and peel off the interest. A fabulous conversational piece, devour butterscotch, Portuguese tart, vanilla cream, whipped butter, breadsticks, wafer biscuits and creme caramel notes that fold into one another with ease. A delicate nutty drive pins the core together with lemon zest and lemon meringue. The length is supreme, yet the mouthfeel is lacy with plenty of depth. A class act, this is very well done."

COOKS LOT 'ICONIQUE BARRIQUE R16 R17' PINOT NOIR 2019

95 POINTS

"A Pinot Noir worthy of sliding into a comfy chair and getting comfortable with every sip, say hello to the Cooks Lot Iconique Barrique. The fruit was handpicked, cold soaked for three days with a small percentage of whole bunches before going through wild yeast fermentation and seeing 16 months in large format French oak.

"Wonderfully savoury with a teasing spice that wraps itself around the palate, dark cherries and dark fruit lead the charge with tilled earth, licorice and black tea. There is a delicacy here, yet there is also some substance to hold onto. Those savoury nuances build a fabulous momentum leading to a most impressive length and elegant moreishness. It's a beautiful expression of Pinot Noir from Orange."
